Getting Started
How do I get started?

Purchase the Grid Watch prim from the SL Marketplace, then rez it on your land, a skybox, or anywhere you have rez permissions. Within a few seconds it will send your login details via in-world IM. Log in at granndindustries.com/dashboard to access your dashboard.

Do I need to be friends with someone to track them?

No. Grid Watch uses a Linden Lab data method that works independently of the friends list. You don't need to send a friend request, and the person you're tracking won't receive any notification.

Does Grid Watch use my friends list?

No. Grid Watch is completely independent of the Second Life friends list. You don't need to be friends with someone to add them as a contact, and adding them to Grid Watch has no effect on your in-world friendship status.

Does it work if someone has hidden their online status?

Yes. Grid Watch uses a Linden Lab data method that works regardless of a user's privacy settings.

Where can I rez the prim?

Anywhere you have rez permissions — your own land, rented land, a Linden Home, or a skybox. The prim needs to remain rezzed and in a region to continue polling. If it's returned to your inventory, tracking will pause until you rez it again.

Does the prim need to stay rezzed?

Yes. The prim is what sends status updates to the server every 30 seconds. If it's not rezzed, your contacts won't be updated. Your dashboard will show a warning if the prim hasn't been seen in over an hour.

The Dashboard
How do I install it on my iPhone?

Open granndindustries.com/dashboard in Safari, tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up at the bottom of the screen), then tap Add to Home Screen. Tap Add to confirm. Grid Watch will appear on your home screen and work like a native app.

How do I install it on Android?

Open granndindustries.com/dashboard in Chrome. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner, then tap Add to Home Screen (or Install App if that option appears). Tap Add to confirm. Some Android browsers use slightly different wording — if you don't see the option, try opening the page in Chrome specifically.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Click the Grid Watch prim in-world, then choose Reset Password from the menu. A new password will be sent to you via in-world IM within a few seconds.

I can't log into the dashboard.

Check that you're using the correct username (your SL avatar name, all lowercase, no spaces — e.g. sagegrannd) and the password sent to you in-world. If you've forgotten your password, click the prim and choose Reset Password.

Contacts
How do I add a contact?

Click the prim in-world and choose Add Contact. You can select a nearby avatar from the list, or choose Type UUID to enter an avatar key manually.

How many contacts can I track?

Free accounts can track up to 5 contacts. Paid accounts (L$10/day) can track up to 50 contacts.

Will my contacts know they're being tracked?

No. Grid Watch operates silently. No notification is sent to tracked avatars.

Notifications
How do I turn on push notifications?

Log into your dashboard and tap the bell icon next to a contact to enable notifications for them. The first time you do this, your browser will ask for permission to send notifications — you need to tap Allow for notifications to work.

Push notifications aren't working. What do I do?

There are a few things to check:

  • iPhone: Go to Settings → Notifications → Grid Watch (or Safari) and make sure Allow Notifications is turned on.
  • Android: Go to Settings → Apps → Chrome → Notifications, or visit the site in Chrome, tap the lock icon and check Notifications is set to Allow.
  • Desktop: Click the lock icon in the address bar next to granndindustries.com and check Notifications is set to Allow.
  • Make sure you tapped Allow when the browser first asked for permission. If you tapped Block, you'll need to reset this in your browser settings.
Pricing & Payments
How much does Grid Watch cost?

The prim is a one-time purchase of L$350 from the SL Marketplace. The free tier includes 5 contacts and 7-day history at no ongoing cost. To upgrade, top up L$ via the prim — tracking costs L$10 per day.

How do I top up?

Right-click the Grid Watch prim in-world and select Pay. Choose from the preset amounts (L$100, L$300, L$500, L$1000). Your balance will be credited immediately.

What happens when my balance runs out?

Your account automatically drops back to the free tier — 5 contacts and 7-day history. Nothing is deleted and your contact list is preserved. Top up at any time to restore paid features instantly.

Is it a subscription?

No. There's no auto-renewal or recurring charge. You top up when you choose to, and the service runs until your balance reaches zero.

Troubleshooting
The dashboard shows a prim offline warning.

It means your prim hasn't sent an update in over an hour. Check that the prim is still rezzed and the region is running normally. If it's been returned to your inventory, rez it again.

My contacts aren't updating.

Make sure your prim is rezzed and the region is running normally. The prim polls every 30 seconds — if the region is restarting or you've just rezzed the prim, give it a minute to catch up.

I purchased the prim but never received login details.

The login IM is sent automatically when you first rez the prim. Make sure you're not blocking IMs from objects, and check your IM history. If you still haven't received it, contact support below.
